Motor Vehicle Technician
Our long-established business has exciting career opportunities available for full-time Motor Vehicle Technicians at each of our sites. Successful candidates will benefit from a starting salary of between £25,000 and £33,000 subject to qualification/experience. The candidate will preferably be level 3 qualified and be able to diagnose and repair modern day car and light commercial vehicle systems. A qualified MOT tester would be preferred but not essential, good customer skills would also be beneficial.
Additional applications from apprentices are also welcome (salary commensurate with age/experience).
Hours of work will be Monday to Saturday (5 and a half days) with a Saturday off rota is in place.
Role Requirements
- Minimum level 3 qualified
- Experience in systems diagnostics, fault finding and repair
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential
- Mot tester preferred
- Must be able to work alone and/or as part of a team and plan own workload
- Full UK driving licence
- Eligible to work in UK
- Must be willing to provide a high level of customer service
- Applicants should be comfortable dealing face to face with customers
Role Responsibilities
- Carrying out routine servicing and vehicle health checks
- Diagnostics and fault finding
- Undertaking repairs from minor maintenance to major, more in-depth work
- Must ensure a high standard of work
- Must be self-motivated and would be expected to be involved in work planning with the rest of the team

Motorcity Motorist Centres Ltd was established in 1985, operates across 2 sites, Knottingley (WF11 0BJ) and Wakefield (WF2 7QY) with a combined workshop area of around 9000 sq/ft accommodating a total of 11 repair lifts as well as Class 4&7 Mot bays, tyre bay and additional working areas at each site,
In addition to Class 4&7 Mot testing the company undertakes all kinds of servicing, mechanical, electrical and diagnostic repairs on all makes of car and light commercial vehicles and carries out pre delivery inspections and repair work for a large main dealer group who deal in high end, high value sports and prestige vehicles.
The successful candidate will receive the following benefits:
